Enjoy a lazy picnic in Hammond Park
After wandering the Kalgoorlie Arboretum, take a break in the lush green oasis that is Hammond Park, which you can find right next door. It’s a gorgeous space to walk around, relax, and watch the world go by.

From July to October, during the cooler Kalgoorlie months, the Goldfields come alive with sparkling colour: it’s wildflower season.
Discover purple Mulla Mulla, the abundant pink and white of the whimsical Everlasting, or sneak a peek of the iconic Sturt’s Desert Pea.
Nearby Karlkurla Bushland Park, just eight minutes from the centre of town, transforms into a wildflower wonderland. Over 22 hectares of regrowth bushland comes alive, providing an array of walking tracks where you can spot a range of beautiful wildflowers.

Welcome to Lake Ballard, the largest outdoor art gallery in the world.
Quiet and introspective, this salt flat is famous for its 51 steel sculptures by British artist Sir Antony Gormley. The abstract, haunting figures inhabit the lake, and are the perfect way to take in the best of the Goldfields’ arts and culture.
It’s a bucket list location for many international art explorers, and we’re lucky to have it nearby.
But be prepared: it’s around a two-hour drive from town, so you’d better have some food, a good playlist, and plenty of water with you.
